What the view shows
A territorial comparison between CAP payments and declared ammonia emissions.
The four regions that declare 89.1% of national livestock ammonia — Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Piedmont — together receive 32.5% of 2025 CAP funds. Overlaying the two datasets allows the territorial distribution of CAP payments to be compared with that of declared ammonia emissions, highlighting the differing geographic concentration of the two figures.
The comparison does not indicate a cause-and-effect relationship: the CAP covers all agricultural sectors, not only livestock farming, and the two registers have different scopes and thresholds. The figures describe solely the geographic distribution of the two variables considered.
The view opens at regional level and can be switched to provincial or municipal level. CAP amounts use a choropleth for regions and provinces and proportional bubbles for municipalities. Plants reporting NH₃ always remain individual points sized by the declared amount and follow the native IED scope.
The ranking adapts to the selected level and reports, for every territory with at least one declarant, its CAP amount, number of IED plants and summed declared NH₃. This territorial emission sum is a geographic grouping of plants, not an attribution of CAP payments to those operators.
