What the view shows
Reading the territorial distribution of plants subject to mandatory declaration.
Plants are not distributed evenly across the national territory: they are markedly concentrated in the Po Valley, particularly across Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Piedmont — the country's areas of highest intensive livestock density. The E-PRTR register documents the territorial distribution of plants that exceed the size thresholds set by the regulation.
The cattle sector is present across the same territory and, according to CEIP/EMEP inventories, is the largest single source of ammonia (67% of European livestock emissions), but it is not covered by the scope of the E-PRTR register. Cattle-sector emissions therefore do not appear in this view.
