What the view shows
Reading the territorial distribution of farms by species.
The BDN (National Livestock Database) records Cattle, Buffalo, Pig, Sheep-and-Goat or Poultry farms in 6,037 of Italy's 7,894 municipalities, 76.5% of the total: most municipalities in the country host at least one active livestock registration in one of these five species, regardless of size thresholds or declaration obligations to a public register such as E-PRTR. The view therefore describes the territorial distribution of farms registered in the BDN, without applying the thresholds set for E-PRTR.
Here too the distribution is uneven: Lombardy, Veneto, Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna together host 66.4% of the nationally recorded cattle, the same area already identified by the Plants view for pigs and poultry. Both views document the Po Valley as the area of highest concentration for the elements observed.
